ramblings

I'm not exactly proficient at sleeping as of late. It's probably because Wallace likes to jump on the bed and then off the bed and then back on it. And then he'll scurry around the hardwood floors and ohmygod please just stay put.

The new job is pretty lovely. It is a whole new budget model with excel macros that make my brain sizzle.

My laptop just gave me the BSOD. Awesome. Guess it's time to invest in a macbook.

what have you been up to?

- Cute dress shopping.

- So much running.

- Reading on the train. Someone please tell me what to read next. I need more recommendations to keep me busy. But recommendations that aren't biographies of civil war persons. Fuck that genre.

- Watching old, ridiculously hilarious episodes of Dawson's Creek via netflix. Do you remember when Joey Potter and Pacy Whitter competed in the Miss Windjammer pageant? Phenomenal television. My only complaint is that Paula Cole's "I don't want to wait" is NOT the song for the opening credits. It is some other lady singing some stupid song and I'm not impressed.

- A lot obsessed with, Das Racist - Booty in the air

Things I'm currently obsessed with

- Putting salsa on salads in lieu of dressing.

- The resurrection of Zima. (Fingers crossed that it happens someday.)

-Backyard boozin
note: this is not my backyard

- Household activities. Like installing appliances and hanging pictures

- Patriotism

IV. The Morning is Full. by Pablo Neruda

The morning is full of storm
in the heart of summer.

The clouds travel like white hankerchiefs of goodbye,
the wind, traveling, waving them in its hands.

The numberless heart of the wind
beating above our loving silence.

Orchestral and divine, resounding among the trees
like a language full of wars and songs.

Wind that bears off the dead leaves with a quick raid
and deflects the pulsing arrows of the birds.

Wind that topples her in a wave without spray
and substance without weight, and leaning fires.

Her mass of kisses breaks and sinks,
assailed in the door of the summer's wind.

diary #9

Lola. Age 8.

May 26, 1990

Today I am playing with Lauren. She's my friend. She's luckier than I am because she is aloud [sic] to have her ears pearst [sic] and alowd [sic] to have make-up on.

Seriously? "Allowed" spelled two different ways in the same sentence? No wonder I couldn't wear make-up. I could barely spell.

Epic Nerd Math

So today, I did a stats analysis of my dating history. (Of course I did). Please feel free to question my methodology and/or assumptions. I am happy to revise my premises.

Dating history:
53% legit feelings dating
40% nonsense
7% misc

Of the total pool:
Average relationship length: 10.92 months
Standard Deviation: 1.04 years (wtf)
Median: 11.3333 months

Of the 53% legit feelings dating:
Range: 2 months to 5 years
Average relationship length: 1.55 years
Standard Deviation: 11.28 months

Of the total pool:
0% marriage rate
33% married to others, with or without children
93% remain on friendly or reasonably-friendly terms

Conclusions: No clue.

Day 29 - A song from your childhood

Music was (and still is) quite important in the Firmingham household. I used to spend hours digging through my parents old 45s and djing via my fisher price turntable. It was awesome. My fisher price dj sets varied, but I had a few staple tracks....

Cabbage Patch Kids - The Bunnybee Song (but sped up to an insane speed)

Manhattan Transfer - Boy from New York City

The Tokens - The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Things i'd like to discuss

1. Mars. Seriously guys, why isn't my twitter/newsfeed clogged with Total Recall references? You're all missing out. Two weeks. Two weeeeeeeeks.

2. Mosquitoes. I hate them. So much.

3. It's almost time for this and this.

4. Exactly

5. I love my new home. Wallace met Jonny Lee Miller the other day during a tv shoot on our block. However, I did not meet him, just Wallace.

6. xx!

7. Has anyone checked in with Bynes recently?
