i hope everyone had a nice holiday. i certainly did. i went up to buffalo to have thanksgiving dinner with the family. it was fun and there were way too many pies. i counted at least 6 pies. ridiculous.

the next 3 weeks will be bananas. b-a-n-a-n-a-s. i have a lot of research papers due. here's a rundown.

1. paper on volunteer organizations
2. research paper on the holy land foundation and the status of U.S. aid to palestine
3. research paper on the role that religion plays in emerging democracies and the presence of nonprofit organizations/NGOs
4. a comparison of the fiscal stress of buffalo and pittsburgh
5. a strategic plan for a private energy company
6. a take home final
7. a tentative plan to drink hemlock

adventures in the nyc

things i did in nyc this past weekend:

- apartment hunting
- adventures in bed-stuy
- i recorded a track in a real studio with my producer friend. the track does not currently have a name, but our group is called "johnson & johnson (and some lotion)" i'm going to have to create a myspace music page. it will be hilarious.
- chocolate for breakfast
- bills game with old friends
- cucumber margaritas in alphabet city
- $8 manicure with the color "sassy satchel"
- bottle service and dancing on couches in the lower east side
- wandering around penn station
- hatin' on the G train
- lecturing a bathroom attendant at the alphabet lounge
- gnocchi and wine tasting
- limited edition cans of red bull
- joy-riding in a mercedes in the meatpacking district (aka looking for parking)
- eating cheesecake and turkey shaped cookies while strolling down bedford ave in williamsburg
- mastering the LIRR from jamaica to penn station (not rocket science.)
- new friends, old friends and interesting twists

i've only had one lucid dreams before, and it was super cool. i've been reading a lot about them recently, and i would love to have another lucid dream. apparently there are different techniques that can be used. i'm going to try a couple and see how it goes.

pittsburgh memories: concerts, raves and other awesomeness

when i first moved to pittsburgh, i went to a lot of shows. it was a fantastic time. my freshman year dorm was right down the street from two great venues, club laga and the beehive. some of my favorite college memories are at shows.

club laga always brought amazing acts. i saw dj craze, mc skibadee, brisk, bullfrog, juno reactor, dieselboy, and lots of crazy ass djs. the most memorable was probably juno reactor. if you ever get the chance to see them live, seriously go. you won't regret it.

at the beehive, i saw a ridiculous performance by dj funk. at one point, dj funk went back to grab another record, and passed out right on his crates. it was amazing. apparently he was too drunk to finish his set. we all got refunds. but i didn't even want one. that story is worth the $10 ticket.

at metropol i saw paul oakenfold , d:fuse, ATB, zebrahead and reel big fish. my favorite had to be d:fuse.

and i danced my booty off to john arnold at club havanna. probably one of my favorite nights in the burgh. ahhh, memories.

so in honor of his ridiculously awesome performance at the beehive, i give you dj funk...

one month (and a half) left in the burgh

i leave the burgh on thursday night to go apartment hunting in nyc. wish me luck!
