theme song

i got some very good advice this week: pick a theme song.

my criteria for a good theme song:
- funky beats
- easy to sing or hum along
- lyrics do not necessarily have to be upbeat or empowering
- it must be an awesome song

some ideas:

the rapture - whoo! alright yeah... uh huh

deelite - groove is in the heart

cookie monster - c is for cookie

basement jaxx - romeo

lyrics born - lady dont tek no

what are you listening to?

roxy cottontail - double dare (proper villains and jubilee remix)
it's hard to sit still when i heard this. it makes me want to rave.

caribou - odessa
ridiculously funky. stuart, if you haven't heard this one, i gently suggest that you to listen to it. it seems like something you would heart and put on a mix.

rainer weichhold - infernal
excellent running song. it has a slow build, but it settles nicely into a 70s vibe.

vamprie weekend - taxi cab
i heart the new album. this song and diplomat's son are my favorites so far. i really appreciate the production and sound quality of this album. who does the sound mixing? each instrument is highlighted and blended perfectly. it's really lovely.

zero 7 - pop art blue
it's better if you sing along loudly to this song.

scissor sisters - tits on the radio
i know it's an older track, but i really dig it! it's great for the morning commute. it's probably good if you sing along to this track as well.

yo, wasup, marky.

why doesn't comcast have this one on demand? i would LOVE to try out the marky mark workout. he's like the original 'situation.' does anyone own this? please send me a copy.

new segment: exercise

lately, i've been taking advantage of comcast on demand. particularly, exercise tv. so far my favorites are pilates and cardio kickboxing. but there are so many exercise options out there. i have a blog and i like to exercise. so let's try these out and then review them. yes? yes.

tonight, i tried "cardioke" with billy blanks jr. the concept is to sing while you do relatively easy cardio dance-y moves. i thought i would hate this but it was really fun. it was goofy and they don't stress the moves at all. basically i got to bop around singing for 20 minutes. i can dig that. also, the cool down song is AMAZING. some lady sings it to you while you stretch. you have to hear it to believe it.

it's possible that i like this in more of an ironic sense than a legit sense. regardless, i had fun and i give this 4 out of 5 stars for creativity. however, i will give it 1.5 stars for calorie burning.

cure for monday grouchiness

for maximum effect, sing along at the top of your lungs.
