morning train. 9:10am. listening to "heartbeat" from madonna's new album. (obv)
apparently, i was involuntarily shaking my booty. caught myself dancing and silently reminded myself that the train is not the best place to dance. but then the people next to me ALSO started dancing.
contagious madonna dance party on the subway? why yes. yes it was.

hard candy makes me happy
madonna's new album "hard candy" dropped today in the states. and i really like it. there's DISCO! serious tracks for dancing!! i can't wait to have madonna dance parties in my room to this album. standout track is definitely "beat goes on" with kanye west. i was really afraid this album would be overproduced and disappointing. but it really is hard candy. im gonna dance around my room now.
here's an interview with madge about the album

missed opportunity
come baaaaaack
the boy, arson zarley, was here this weekend.
we ate delicious food, watched movies and bummed around williamsburg. i would prefer that he come back and continue the uselessness and perpetual cycle of eating-drinking-shuffling down bedford-sleeping.
although this time, i wouldn't eat 4 cheese pizza.

i don't know about you, but everything is better in the springtime
it's sunny out. 64 degrees right now and it's gonna hit 77! i love spring. this is my favorite time of year. seeing leaves on trees always gives me a renewed sense of optimism. (i also got another invitation to interview for a job, so that helps! it also helps that the job starts at $65K)
here's some daft punk to start the day with a dance party.

song memories: radiohead's 'creep'
when firminghams take tests, we do quite well with mnemonic devices. it's easier to remember things with little songs and rhymes.
my brother stuart was listening to a lot of radiohead's 'pablo honey' when i was studying for my big global studies test. he changed the words of the song "creep" to help me study. it was a very successful tactic, as i will never forget that the indian rebellion of 1857 (or the sepoy mutiny) brought down the east india trading company. the sepoys rebelled due to a rifle greased with cow lard. and cows are sacred in indian culture.
lyrics? try singing this around 2:25
"COWS COWS ARE REALLY SACRED. COWS. COWS ARE REALLY SACRED. COWS. COWS. COWS. COOOOOOOOOOOWS."

guilty pleasure songs, feel free to judge me
i'm not screwing around with this. i honestly feel guilty about these songs. and not in an "amanda perez - candy kisses" way where liking something that ridiculous makes you cool and ironic. this stuff makes me uncool.
1. akon - mr lonely.
i know i'm a little late with this song, as it was released quite a while ago. but i dig it. say what you will about akon, but using this sample is pretty cool. production-wise, it wins lots of awesome points.
2. simple plan - addicted
why the hell do i like this song? i hate pop punk/emo/whatever the hell this shit is. but it was popular during the summer jen and i drove from pittsburgh to los angeles. so whenever i hear it, i am reminded of that awesome trip.
3. crazy town - starry eyed surprise (paul oakenfold remix)
shut up. it's a great song.

let donna martin graduate!
Pittsburgh has royally crapped all over my graduation paperwork. I will not be graduating in May. I may possibly be graduating in August. And it is very likely that I will have to sign up for a summer class (in Pittsburgh! WTF!) just to get myself graduated. After signing off on all previous paperwork in December and giving me the green light, they are now changing their tune. Just let me graduate you evil beasts!! I feel like Donna Martin in 90210, except for the whole drinking at the prom thing.

ironic tshirt spotted in williamsburg triggers panic of fading youth
while walking vincey to the park, i was shocked to see a guy perched outside the turkey's nest (local dive bar) in an Austin 3:16 shirt. at first i was perplexed. why was this guy wearing a stone cold steve austin shirt post 1997? did i really stumble upon a steve austin fan in williamsburg? and why the hell did i know what this shirt meant?
after initial confusion and mental discomfort, i realized this guy was wearing the shirt ironically. this guy wasn't a fan. in fact, over 10 years has passed since austin's epic rise in the wrestling world. (has it really been 10 years since that obnoxiousness!?!) 10 years is an adequate period of time for pop culture items to rise, fade, die and experience rebirth in a sarcastic hipster setting. witnessing this firsthand makes me feel old.

lola's first celebrity sighting
don't get too excited. i did not see madonna or john krasinski like i've been hoping. i saw a lady from law and order. this lady to be exact. and she is so skinny in person that it made me uncomfortable. i thought about giving her my carrot muffin.

snippet of the new nkotb song "click click"
i feel like they need to come out with something a lot stronger. i want step by step 2008.
what are you doing with your sunday?
i'm nursing my hangover by downloading reggae, new and old, bad and good. the weather is getting nicer and i need a soundtrack to embrace it. reggae is a lovely way to welcome spring.
in one of the many (many) crashes of my various computers, i lost my bob marley collection. today marks its return. bob marley makes me happy and brings lots of good memories from summer 2002, which was arguably the best summer of my life. so cheers to that

travel company rips off women, finds one night stands profitable
High-end travel company offers $24G for 'Sex and the City' tour
"Want to live out the glitzy "Sex and the City" dream? A high-end travel company will give you the chance to walk, shop - and even flirt - like TV's most famous single women in all their favorite New York haunts."
"Even though the tour organizers aren't promising a Mr. Big, they do vow to give the out-of-towners a chance to hook up with real New York guys."
seriously? SERIOUSLY? the chance to hook up with real new york guys? does that really need a middle man? let alone a $24G middle man? i should run this bullshit myself. i'd send all the women to murray hill, already drunk. easy as that.
