holy crap. super awesome
Killer Diamond Engagement Ring by Tobias Wong
"Designer Wong makes engagement rings that can kill you. The razor-sharp diamond point is set into the ring so it can’t get knocked out when you smash someone’s face in, and the edges of the ring are really soft so it won’t cut into your skin during the pounding. It’s romantic because it means, “Will you marry me” but it also means, “I can’t always be there to protect you so if some jerk won’t stop bothering you, puncture him with this.” The diamond sharp edge will also cut skin down to the bone (with a minimum 1 karat stone - but the larger the better). Or it may simply be used to tag hard surfaces, like cars and windows for S.O.S. messages or that last will and estimate when pen or paper (or lawyers) aren’t conveniently around."

hairs on the head
on friday i am going here for a haircut. i usually get nervous for haircuts, although i'm not quite sure why. haircuts are awesome and usually enhance attractiveness. but there is still a fear in the back of my head that my stylist will flip out and i'll end up like this guy.
i miss my stylist in pittsburgh. he's freaking amazing and i contemplated either 1) flying to the burgh for a haircut or 2) flying him to nyc. however, these options are not cost effective.
when i called my new hair place, they asked if i wanted something "funky." i hope he meant this, because it is quite possibly the fiercest hair i've ever seen. hipsters will seethe with jealousy.

the hottness
the ripstik is my current favorite thing to do. the roomies are amazing at it. i'm still learning, but i can now ride the thing without holding onto the wall, tv, kitchen counter, etc.

buying things
yesterday, i went to the young designers market in soho. i love that place. shopping in ny sometimes gives me headaches because there are SO MANY places to go and everything is ridiculously expensive. but the young designers market tends to have awesome stuff at good prices.
yesterday i bought a winter hat and a brass charm necklace. the necklace is freaking amazing. i picked out a unicorn charm and a wolf charm (made by these guys.) it kinda looks like the unicorn and wolf are ready to battle.

Me, On Shuffle
True or false: The music a person listens to reveals many truths about that person.
By Chuck Klosterman
I spend a lot of my life attempting to avoid situations where people make small talk. As a rule, I generally don't enjoy conversing with anyone I haven't already spoken with on at least 120 previous occasions, which makes acquiring new friends difficult. But whenever I do find myself meeting a stranger for the first (or second or third) time, I'm struck by how often they ask me one specific question: "What kind of music do you like?"....

punching books
yesterday, i had a quintessential new york moment on the uptown 4 train.
rush hour. lots of people. lots of smooshing. lots of bumpy train traffic. i was standing right above a man sitting and reading a book. i raised my arm to scratch my head and accidentally punched the guy's book into his face.
the guy didn't even flinch. it was like clockwork. he lowered his book away from his face and kept reading. i apologized for punching him in the face, but he didn't even acknowledge me or the fact that i had punched him. it was amazing. i love new york.

super fat giants tuesday
there was a lot to do today.
first, i went to work/the giants parade. the parade went right past my office building, so it was really unavoidable and awesome. it was nice to emerge from the subway to already find drunk people eating pizza at 9:30am.
after work (and an interesting commute back to the bk) i voted. i guess this is the portion of the blog where i officially endorse a candidate. obama gets the firmingham vote.
after voting, i ate food.
i hope that everyone had a very merry super fat giants tuesday.

what? really? a sex offender of bikes?
Man who had sex with bike in court
A man has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after being caught trying to have sex with a bicycle.
Robert Stewart was discovered in his room by two cleaners at the Aberley House Hostel in Ayr, south west Scotland, in October last year....
